The Meerkat House

While on your way to the summer enclosures, remember to say hello to the meerkats - small carnivores from the mongoose family. They are unmissable as one of them will be standing up, keeping an eye out for any potential danger to the pack's members that are having a rest or eating. This is just one example of how the complex social structure of a meerkat colony works, under the supervision of a dominating pair. Our meerkat enclosure is the largest one dedicated to meerkats in Europe. It is a successful copy of their natural habitat: the steppes of Southern Africa. We have already managed to raise seven young animals in three litters.
