Elephant Bull Kito is Eleven

We celebrated on 7 December 2013 the eleventh birthday party of African Elephant bull Kito. Zoo employees of the nutrition and zoology department prepared a birthday (fruit-vegetables) cake for Kito´s enrichment. He was born on 6th December 2002 in Colchester Zoo in England; his mother Tanya (wild caught) delivered him after artificial insemination by semen of an elephant bull Tembo (wild caught in Zambia). When transported from Colchester Zoo  (June 2009) he weighed 2450 kg, now he weighs about 4 550 kilograms. Two females (Umbu-32 years, Sally-31 years) helped Kito with eating the birthday cake :-)
