The Birthday Parties of Bornean orangutans at Dvur Kralove Zoo. International Day of orangutans (19.8.).
August Dvur Kralove Zoo celebrated a double birthday parties of Bornean orangutans - female Satu and her baby Dewi.
Female Satu was fourteen and her daughter Dewi was two years old. Dewi was seriously injured when she was one. Keepers, zoologist, vet and other experts were treating her very carefully for three months. That´s why we are really happy to see a beautiful and healthy baby nowadays who plays with his mother again. Both orangutans enjoyed the special cakes and other gifts in their enclosure in the World of Birds pavilion. We informed general public about destruction of rain forests – natural habitat of both orang utan species – which can lead to their quick extinction.
Lion talk and feeding took place at the Lion House as well on August 31. Lion male Brahma and female Avani ate chunks of meat in front of visitors´ eyes. We talked about threats to lions in the wild, too.
