The second birthday of orang utan baby.
Employee of the nutrition and zoology department and basic schools leaded by Mgr. Jana Rehorova prepared a fruit cake, present and enrichment for birthday girl. Baby girl Tessa was born on 13th November 2010; her mother ‘s name is Zaneta. She is living in Bird World pavilion together with her mother and brother Besar. During the celebration, Mgr. Michal Podhrazsky talked about orang utans keeping in the zoo and Ing. Tomas Hajnys talked about nature conservation in South-Eastern Asia. Ing. Ales Kancnyr wished all the best and some of the 45 participants tried a knowledge quiz “What do you know about orang utans?” The event was held as a part of Orangutan Caring Week campaign of Orang Utan Republic Foundation in cooperation with numerous associations, including EAZA (European Association of Zoos and Aquaria). The aim of the campaign is to inform general public about destruction of rain forests – natural habitat of both orang utan species – which can lead to their quick extinction.
