Welcome
Planning a trip to the zoo? Wondering how best to make the most of it? Well, everything you need is right here in these pages, such as directions, plus the lowdown on the exhibits and attractions. Take a moment to check out where to get a refreshing cup of tea, coffee or beer whilst reflecting on all the sights and sounds of the zoo.
Meet Europe's largest collection of African wildlife. Take a genuine African safari and see herds of antelopes, zebras and wildebeest from a double-decker bus. If this isn't enough, you can always find out more by going behind the scenes. For example, we arrange special experience programmes that provide a fascinating insight on the animals and the zoo.
Getting here
The town of Dvůr Králové nad Labem lies 40 km north of Hradec Králové, the regional capital in a district called Královéhradecký kraj in Czech. The zoo is located in the west of the town.
Admission
How much will a visit cost? Well, there’s no need to worry on that front. Prices are very reasonable, plus there are discounts for students, groups, children and families. What’s more, our car park is free of charge.
African Safari
Taking an African safari could make a visit to Dvůr Králové Zoo that extra bit special. Why not top off the day in style? This is a truly authentic experience, the closest thing to driving through an African wilderness without actually going to Africa. Sights include herds of zebras and antelopes roaming freely, and the mighty common eland male that may weigh up one ton! That's not all.
Houses and exhibits
Let us take you on a virtual tour of the zoo. Before you actually arrive, please view what is waiting there for you and what is unmissable.
Zoo Plan
Thinking about it, there are various ways of finding your way around the zoo without getting lost, such as dropping a trail of breadcrumbs. According to a well-known Czech fairytale, this is hardly the best course of action.
Refreshments
There you are, having walked quite a distance and done some exploring, picking up all sorts of information along the way and enjoying yourself. Maybe you feel like taking some time out and resting your pins, or perhaps the kids are a little tired.
The lowdown on the animals
There is a better way of learning more about the many animals than just reading information on panels by the exhibits or in the zoo guide. Why not find out what the zookeepers know?
